Anti-law school blogs - What do they really want?
By A.S. Pradhan
With the continuing downturn in the economy eventually affecting even recent law graduates, anti-law school blogs have increased their campaign against law schools. Most of them are written by individuals who went to law schools and then got jobs in good law firms but burned out. Of course they won’t admit that. But why else who someone making a good salary, including some who made over six figures drop everything and turn to writing blogs. According to these anti-scam blogs, it’s a big mistake to go into law schools because:
(1) There are 192 ABA accredited law schools out of which there are only 14 that are considered top notch. So the students from the remaining law schools can forget about ever getting into a top law firm. Are they saying that all the other lawyers are miserable at their work and are not successful?
(2) Not all lawyers can make over 100K straight out of law school. Even if they make 50K, that is still among the highest starting salaries among all occupations.
(3) Legal jobs are being outsourced. Outsourcing is happening in all white-collar professions. People are still studying computer engineering and it is still one of the highest paying occupations.
(4) There’s a recession in the industry right now. There’s a recession everywhere and all industries go through boom-bust cycles. If you want security, get into the civil service.
If these lawyers hated Big law so much why not work as a government lawyer? Of course, it’s their right to complain and criticism is always good since it does bring in some accountability. But why don’t these critics put their time and energy to a better use and get together with other disgruntled lawyers and start a law firm with low cost services? The country certainly needs something along those lines.
In fact, the only difference between the

Live, or for that matter, any American
