“The Future of Environmental Protection” Brings Vice President Al Gore, Leading Academics, Government Officials, Practitioners, and Students to GW Law

My hero, former vice president Al Gore, paid a trip to George Washington University to close its "Future of Environmental Protection" conference on March 19. He spent an hour discussing the science, policies, and laws related to global climate change and energy consumption. Lucky ducks!
Ever the optimistic activist, Gore said, “What is most beautiful and precious in this God-given earth is something we can lose. The people in this room and across our country and world truly have the power to make a difference.” In short, we must remain positive and proactive. We must act now.
As George Washington Law President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg said at the four-day conference, Gore is a “rock star.” Trachtenberg explained, “Long ago, Vice President Gore recognized the seriousness of environmental degradation. He takes it as his mission to make people say ‘carbon emissions’ as easily as they would say ‘baseball’ or ‘apple pie.’”
The 17th Annual National Association of Environmental Law Societies Conference drew leading policy experts, government officials, and scientists together to address important topics in environmental law, such as global warming legislation, Supreme Court decisions, international issues affecting U.S. policy, and various measures that individuals can take to protect the environment.
