U.S. Senate, World Bank, and European Commission representatives are meeting at American University on Thursday, March 29, to discuss how the current Congress will affect international climate law. Sweet!
I am so hyped I want to hop on the next flight to Washington, DC, to listen to all the panelists speak. Assistants to Senators Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), representatives from the World Bank and the European Commission, and environmental law experts from the Climate Institute will be at the conference entitled “Impact of U.S. Climate Law: What Impact Will the New Congress Have?”
Topics of discussion include emerging federal climate change legislation and policy and its impact on the global community. They will also brainstorm new ideas on how Congress can become more active in international climate law.
David Hunter, Director of the International and Comparative Environmental Law Program at AU, will moderate the event. Sustainable Development Law & Policy (SDLP), the AU student journal that sponsored the event, will distribute its 2007 Climate Law Reporter at the conference.
