Thirty leading pharmaceutical experts will gather at the Florida State University College of Law to participate in "Global Pharmaceutical Regulation 2007: Tackling Regional Priorities" April 5-7. They will discuss future global pharmaceutical regulations, the research and development of pharmaceuticals, and ways to broaden access to medicine.
Fred Abbott, law professor at Florida State University and renowned world public-health activist, said, “[T]he international system for the development, production, and distribution of pharmaceutical products faces
enormous challenges, but the nature of the challenges is not universal. Instead, the problems facing patients, industry, and regulators vary substantially by region.”
Participants in the event come from a variety of organizations, including the World Health Organization, the World Bank, Médecins Sans Frontières, the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, the Latin American Association of Pharmaceutical Industries, the Federal Trade Commission, and the National Institutes of Health. These representatives can offer insight and analysis regarding the pharmaceutical markets in India, Latin America, Europe, France, Africa, China, and the U.S. They will also work together to tackle and address prominent questions that plague the industry.
