Good news for Iranian American students: IABA scholarship to aid you

Here are some good tidings for all you bright Iranian American students in the U.S. rearing to hone your legal skills. A mentoring association is ready to help you tide the fund crunch and emerge as a winner.

Each year, the Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) selects one or more law students in good standing from accredited law schools in the United States to receive IABA scholarships in the form of bursaries paid out of its annual working budget. Law students who take up the mission and ideals of IABA and prove their commitment to the profession are selected to receive the grant.
 
IABA aims to help the selected Iranian-American students that enroll in American law schools, as it considers these law students as the future leaders of the community. The IABA is also devoted to increase and strengthen its relationship with the Iranian-American law student body across the country. The scholarship is just one segment of this larger plan.

Applications for its scholarship are invited in the spring of each year and the award(s) are declared during the ensuing summer. The Scholarship Committee selects the awardees. The scholarship amount, however, varies depending on the organization's financial resources. The scholarships are designed to help those Iranian American students who have no other source for external funds.
 
In order to qualify for as an applicant, the candidates must of Iranian heritage or they should be committed to the advancement of the community and IABA's mission. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school as a full-time student. Besides this, the candidates also need to fill in the National Scholarship Application Form, have a detailed resume outlining the applicant's education, work, community experience; official law school and college transcripts, among others. The deadline for submission of applications for the 2007-2008 scholarship awards is June 15.
