Summer Break Before Law School

155,000 took the LSAT this year. 88,000 applied, 49,700 were accepted, and you’re one of them. What now? You’ve got a summer to mule over what you’re in for, so why not mentally prepare? Have you ever had a project you knew was coming, and just by anticipating it mindfully for a while, you became stoked and eager, and ready to shine? The same idea applies to law school, and as you get ready to leap in and enjoy a difficult 3 years of legal address, you might prepare your mind in a few ways.
First of all, read some books about law school, how to succeed, that sort of thing. Don’t try to study ahead, focus on that when the time is here, but read some books about law schools. Also, study the law school you are going into. That is your alma mater, a place you will refer to for the rest of your life. Knowing some of the in and outs of its heritage will help you; so at least visit its web page and the actual campus if you can, and see if you can join the conversation with current students or alumni about the facility.
Reading some inspirational biographies of your hero, whoever he or she may be, could help prime you for the rigors of law school. You will feel inspired to learn what you need to empower you for a challenging career. It might be the last time you have for a while to read a book for pleasure.
You don’t need to psych yourself out on the difficulty of law school. If you’ve made it this far, you will probably do well; however, getting some stories about what it’s like, and getting your mind adjusted to the unique challenges before you will help you plan it. And nothing relaxes us like having a plan.
