Big law firms are offering fewer jobs to students in ’09
Law students are paying the price as the sinking economy has caused Philadelphia’s largest firms to reduce 2009 summer associate hiring by more than 20 percent.
“We decided given the uncertain economy, we should extend fewer offers,†said Robert Heideck, executive partner of Pepper Hamilton, which reduced summer hiring from 32 students last year to only 13 in 2009 locally and from 44 to 18 firmwide.
