Schools won't ax disputed test rule
The Plainfield School District has decided to keep in place a somewhat controversial policy requiring juniors to have at least 12 credits before taking state-mandated achievement exams.
The school board voted 4-3 to keep the policy intact, even though top district administrators had recommended rescinding it. The policy was put in place a year ago, ostensibly to help boost the district's state report card scores because students who did not yet master concepts on the tests would not be factored into the scores.
