The Morning Line: Confidence in Super Saver
Today’s horse racing stories focus on Super Saver, the jockey Calvin Borel, and the trainer Todd Pletcher. Pletcher and Borel are expressing significant confidence over Super Saver’s chances in the Preakness. Borel tells The Louisville Courier-Journal, “He’s fresh; he hadn’t run much as a 2-year-old. He’s peaking at the right time.” The Courier-Journal also notes that Borel in the past has talked in much the same fashion about his other rides in the Preakness and Belmont. Todd Pletcher is similarly confident in The Lexington Herald-Leader, USA Today and The New York Post, although he has some concerns about bringing his horse back in two weeks. Gary West for The Fort Worth Star-Telegram makes Super Saver “the one to beat in eight days in Baltimore.”
