A recent study on Good Looks and th Jurors

Your takes on this???

Good looks could help guilty defendants dodge justice, researchers have said....

[A recent study showed] that attractive suspects were more likely to be acquitted, despite there being no extra evidence in their favour.

Sandie Taylor, the psychologist who conducted the study, said: "We set out to consider the influence of physical attractiveness and ethnicity of a defendant depicted in a photograph on mock jurors' decisions of verdict, extent of guilt and sentencing...."

"Attractive defendants are, it seems, rated less harshly than homely defendants, so perhaps justice isn't blind after all."

I believe this statement. There are studies that show that if you wear a great suit, you can win more money in a case; if you are overweight, you will make less money. Some firms probably tend to only hire tall attorneys. Certainly, people are more welcoming and less judgmental if you are attractive (but, of course, that all depends on what is considered "attractive"). Maybe it is a cultural issue here in America. Who knows? Nevertheless, there's not much we can do about it, save for surgery (which is an issue for some professionals). I suppose the only resolution to this situation is for the ugly people to revolt or for the beautiful people to breed them out.

If i was sitting on the hot seat I would definitely give the final verdict to solely on the basis of looks. After all study says it does...

The hot seat as in the Judge's throne...And if I'm ever on the other side then I would clothe myself in Versace and the best Chanel perfume...Just in case if it's my day...you never know...

i would agree on this! why when a celebrity is rumored to be involved in some criminal activities, everyone would believe it instantly!! They maybe innocent (sometimes that is).. the looks, money, fame.. all play an important part in jumping to conclusions..
